I’m leaving everything I know for 7 weeks’ solo travel in Africa before heading to Nepal for four months as a team leader with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO).
I’ve never written a blog before (in case that’s not already apparent) but I Googled it and apparently if you want to learn to write, you just need to write. Easy. And as I’ll likely be one of only two readers (hi mom!), this feels like a safe environment to have a bash and “develop my own voice”.
My last couple of jobs have involved elements of delivering corporate communication strategy and I’m interested in using my forthcoming adventures to explore my own writing skills further.
This blog is intended to document the highs and lows of my physical journey while acting as a general diary space for my own musings and self-absorbed ramblings. I’m also looking forward to comparing the workings of a voluntary sector organisation with a multinational oil and gas company, as well as the broader differences between East/West, North/South, etc.
The next six months of my life are going to be terrifying, exciting and hopefully life-changing… which is more or less how I feel about writing a blog too!
